So turns out I'm a size 10. In sample sizes that is.
This week I stopped by the FCUK outlet, and was drawn to the rack labeled
"Sample Sizes - Everything MUST go"
My heart went pitter-patter, and I quickly started scanning through the clothes. Low and behold I come across this gem of a dress shirt. Gorgeous color? Check.. Four leaf clovers for good luck? Check..
What more could a girl want?
I was already floating to the change room until I noticed the size on the tag.
TEN
TEN
I've never been a 10 in my life. I slowly creeped away from the change room and eyed myself in the mirror - half expecting to see myself double in size. I'm 5'2 guys (if that!).
However, after much thought I tried the shirt on & I bought it & I rocked it to date night!
Moral of the story? The modeling world is a cruel one. Imagine - someone like Coco Rocha is a size 4 and people call her fat!
(Have they seen an optometrist lately? Or a shrink perhaps?).
She's absolutely gorgeous, and so yes - she has REAL thighs.

The pressure put on women to be slim (especially in the modeling industry) is ridiculous.
It's like there is a bar set for boni-ness.
And it's pretty darn high.

There is something I'd like to say to the designers of this shirt. I LOVE food, I'm healthy, and even if this is a size 10 in your eyes, I think I look DARN good. So go ahead.
Super Size Me ;)

PS. My early birthday present from the boyfriend arrived today

What a beautiful shirt! Women's sizes are so confusing--my clothes range from size 2 to size 8 in my closet.
I'm in the process of growing out my hair, and I am so jealous of your bun! :)
Best post I read this week! Im 5'2 as well and vintage sizing is equally the same.. so cheers to being a 10!
you are beautiful, I never pay any attention to the size on something, just look at it to see if I think if will fit ... the shirt is a great find and I am so very in love with those shoes!!!

Cute outfit. Really like your bag and shoes.
Don't worry about the size labels on clothes. Just worry about how the clothes fit you and your body shape. Some of the most beautiful women are over size 12.

You do look good. You look lovely. And you're right... so right. You don't need to look boney to look amazing. Ps I love how perfect your bun looks! Is it just pulled together and pinned?
And sizes are ridiculous. I order online from F21 all the time (well, not anymore... but I used to!) and I have a range of sizes from 26-29 just in the waist alone. All that fit. I'm an XS sometimes and a L other times. It's just stupid to get all worked up over a number. Who gives a damn! Your post is gorgeous!

I'm 5'2 also, and since I'm curvy, my size in clothing can jump around-but it's all about the fit! Loved this post and your hair looks cute!

LOVE this post, and your top! Womens sizes are so silly; you're totally totally not a size 10!
Yup, the way I do my bun is put it up in a pony tail - and then wrap the hair around and pin it (with way too many bobypins!)
& I totally agree about forever 21 - their sizing is wacko!
Thank you for the sweet comment and making me smile this morning.
you are beautiful! love your bun.
first time on your blog!
and you do look darn good! clothes varies a lot, so don't be discouraged!

Love the outfit. The top is gorgeous! As you said, you look great in it, and I love your message! I mean, I'm a 5'9" teenage girl that can still fit into size two dresses, and I get down on myself sometimes! But anyway, I'm so happy that I found your blog! You have a great fashion sense, and your posts always make me laugh. They really brighten my day! I'm now following via bloglovin'. If you have time, I would love it if you checked out my fashion blog. If you like it and decide to follow back that would be great, but ONLY if you really like it! I'm trying to build a following of people who genuinely care about what I write, not just those who pity me. Anyway, sorry to ramble, and hoping to hear from you soon!

Your outfit is stunning!! and I love your hair!! :)
Thank you so much for your comments!!

Hai un blog delizioso !!! Baci Marcella
you look beautiful and size shouldn't mean anything. In general a small size vs a bigger size does not indicate that the smaller size is somehow superior, and in specific on one person it doesn't matter what size a garment is, as long as it fits. I usually just grab thing on sight instead of checking the sizing!
Great outfit! The hair looks great and I love those sassy shoes.

Agreed! I think that's the lesson I learned - to pick up things and try them on regardless of what size they are... Thanx :)
Had to translate this (though I wish I knew Italian). Thank you for the sweet comment & thank you Google translate.
PS. Actually, the only word I did know was Baci :):) Pretty proud of myself.
You totally made my morning. And afternoon. I'll check out your blog asap! But by the sound of it, I already know I'll love it! :)
I DO?! *blush* gosh..
Thanks for your sweet comment on our blog :)

First, you are absolutely STUNNING! I love your shirt and you have such a beautiful smile. :) And although your hair is in a bun, I can tell it is long and full, and therefore amazing. Hehe.
And you are NOT fat at all. I'm struggling with my weight right now. (Long story short: I gained 20 pounds in two years due to a desk job). And a few months ago I had to purchase a bridesmaid dress to be in my bff's wedding. It was a size 10 and I was horrified. But you know what, I think that perhaps the brands (David's Bridal in my case) run small. I just have a very, very hard time imagining, from these photos, that you are a real size 10. It seems pretty much impossible, actually.
Plus, it's hard for us short girls to be a stick! I'm five feet tall and if I eat so much as a pretzel, it goes straight to my hips. LOL!
You're totally NOT fat...don't even sweat it at all! I struggled with body image for years, and I'm tiny. It's so easy to be critical of ourselves, and we forget that others don't even notice things that we hate about ourselves.
I really love your blouse.
Love the photos, the colorization of the pictures are lovely!
The bag and the outfit is so cute.

4-leaf clovers! To die for!!!! I must keep my eye out for sample sales for sure. And what a lovely hair-do, love the blogger bun :)

Haha we are probably the exact same size you and I! I'm also 5'2" and I've had a few scares with sample sizes as well. Nothing to worry about, we're damn hot you and I! ;P Now, to hatch my plan of stealing that shirt from you..
You always have the cutest outfits! I'm not a huge fan of cheetah print...but those flats are adorable with the pink. They definitely work on you :)
Also, I really wanted to thank you for your advice on whether I should stick with cross country or not. Your answer has been stuck in my head all day long. As much as I hate letting go, doing what makes me happy (now) is great advice. Thank you again.
Have a great day! xx
very cute outfit!!!!!
I'm so glad I could help! :):)

beautiful outfit! Loving the shirt and shoes, they are too cool! x
I don't worry about the number, as I'm petite and athletic. I'll never be a 2, or maybe never a 4. I've got hips! The inconsistency in sizing between brands does not help, either. Let your confidence shine!
So cute, Katya. I can't wait to see what's in that box!

I am a size 10, and I am totally ok with that. I struggled a lot with weight issues all my life, but now i am finally at a place of realizing that numbers are bogus. Women look good in every size there is, and all that matters is that a person feels good.
