food for thought

Shirt: Joe Fresh, Jeans: F21, Shoes: Winners, Necklace: F21, Sunglasses: Ray Ban

There is something that's been on my mind this week, and I was debating whether I wanted to blog about it or not. As I finally found a free minute to sit down and post, writers block kicked my but and it's like my brain was subconsciously whispering to me..
"do it, do it"

To avoid all the fluffy stuff
(and cheesy jokes this time, they will return I promise)
I wanted to be serious with you galls
Just this once

I haven't been blogging for long, I'm a bit of a baby in this world.
However, reading blogs - well that I've been doing for as long as I can remember.

Last night, before heading to boyfriends parents house for dinner, we stopped by the lake to take photos. Before I began blogging, we would have never taken time out of our busy schedule to go and do something as trivial as take a walk by the lake.

This made me wonder...
Are we blogging about our real life or are we planning our life around our blogs?

At first, it was a shock. Yes, we did take a detour JUST to take outfit photos.
But the longer I thought about it the more I realized that planning around blogging, gave rise to a new tradition && a much needed break.

What do you guys think?
Has blogging changed your daily routine to something that you would have never thought about twice before?
& Has it been a positive change?

as long as it makes you happy I would have to say if is a positive change! I like the shirt you are wearing a lot, I am making a trip to Calgary Alberta ( the last place I lived in Canada) and might just have to make a stop at a Great Canadian Superstore to check out the Joe Fresh stuff cause I love it so much!!

I personally see blogging as a place where I get daily inspiration from and a never ending source of motivation. My blog is a journal where I document little pieces of my life & learning experiences ; I hope someday my children read it... so to answer your questions: blogging motivates me to get out of my confort zone and try new things out, I would probably still make time to do these things but I would have no way to keep track if I didn't blog.

our blogs were started right around the same time, so i know exactly what you mean. now, i still don't have a working camera (saving up!) so i haven't been able to post outfit photos (yet!) but i find myself looking at the things i do with new eyes. i think there's something really nice about recording the important moments in your day to day life. i like to think that in a few years i'll be able to go through old blog posts the way some people might look at a scrapbook or photo album. it's nice to take stock of your day to day and take time to remember certain moments. i also like that because of blogging i am able to discuss this with you at all.. you live in ontario (i think) and i live in new jersey, if it weren't for blogging we probably never would have come in contact with each other at all! regardless of your motivation, you still ended up having a nice moment with your boyfriend by the lake, and that is something you should definitely be thankful for.

I love that you were able to stop by the lake to take photos and see some beautiful scenery. For the first time ever, this week I was able to convince my hubby to take photos of my oufit (to save me from the self timer usual). He was a littel grumpy, like "do other guys do this?!" I kindly explained and showed him other blogs. Yes, other guys do this and I really appreciate it! It was baby steps for helping me with my oufit blogs. We only made it to our backyard, maybe someday we can stop by a nice lake!

I don't think blogging has changed my routine much. I do think it has changed the way I look at things - always looking for a good blog topic. It also helps me appreciate little things more. Definitely a positive addition to my life.

It definitely makes me happy! I now see that not all change has to be bad (& before I used to incredibly afraid of change). Thanks Jess! Definitely check out Joe Fresh! This season they have some really adorable stuff.

So so true. Blogging has made my memory that much better, because I can always look back on the last few months and draw inspiration from myself - which is something I never thought I'd do!

Magdalena you didn't leave a link to your blog, I would LOVE to check it out :)

First of all, I love the color of your top, it is so vibrant. Second, I also am relatively new to blogging and have thought this same thing. Are posts natural and organic or are they forced and planned? Is it a combination of both? So maybe you did stop on purpose, but it created a fun, whimsical moment for you that might not of happened naturally, I say keep it up.

I know exactly what you mean - even looking back on the last few months reminds of good times that I would otherwise (maybe) not remember && I am so incredibly glad that blogging has allowed me to meet new people (like you!) who are super awesome and make me smile day in and day out! =)

You are so right - I've noticed that too! It's like the creative part of my brain is constantly turned on and running full speed ahead (which is an awesome feeling).

&& I also had to be super nice and patient with my boyfriend at the beginning. He found it a little strange and time consuming at first - but I think he saw how happy it made me, and it started taking less and less time to take photos and more time to just enjoy the adventures blogging has taken us on.

PS. Jennifer you didn't leave a link for you blog...come back and let me know what it is, so I can come follow you :) .. in the least creepiest way possible, pinky promise!

Right on it gurlie :)

Exactly, something that might seem like it was forced, was actually an awesome experience that led to a pretty romantic stroll by the lake. I am so thankful to blogging ;)

To your outfit - It's beautiful, I love the bold cobalt blue and I love the cutouts!

To your serious post... Never be afraid to post things like that. I understand if they're really personal but these are the kind of things we all understand and relate to :)
I think my life has changed to accommodate blogging, and not in a positive way, which made me want to stop for a while (the reason for my break)
It was taking up a lot of time, too much actually, and causing me to have more alone time than I can account for. I need a balance. Since I take my pictures close to home I can deal with shooting them, and even posting them, but it's the editing, commenting on other blogs and getting back to people that really takes up most of my time. If I had a narcissistic blogging experience I think I would be just fine... but it's connecting with other bloggers that I love and wouldn't want to give up.
I've found that I don't read as many mainstream blogs anymore.
I wouldn't look at taking a detour to take outfit pictures as bad--because we are photographers and artists as well and sometimes we just have a vision. At least, I do :)
I think sometimes it's unrealistic to have a posting schedule. That's what I've learned most.

Blogging does change a person in certain ways, for me I've had many positive changes. I stepped up and actually started re-working my closet, I had no idea I had sooooo many possibilities, I get to practice my passion for photography, and I get to share it with others who have similar interests.
P.S. LOVE the shirt-gorgeous color!

I would say blogging definitely changes the routine, but for me, at least, it has been in a good way. It gives me things to look forward to. I get excited about doing things and having little adventures, because I know I'll get to share my experiences. Blogging highlights the simple, everyday joys, and there's really nothing more beautiful than that. Have a beautiful Sunday!

Your shirt looks so lovely next to your skin, love all the details.

Okay about blogging I would say that yes, It has changed my daily routine, but it's changed for the better. I love the time I spend teaching my hubby how to use my camera ( for outfit pictures ).

i totally get this. sometimes i ask myself this question. i have been taking pictures of food as long as i can remember so that hasnt changed. what has changed is that i may not plan my life around my blog but i definitely bring my camera to capture more simple pleasures (like a trip to the pumpkin patch) instead of just for a special day.
