Exactly a year ago, on this very day, boyfriend went to a wedding - where he got a pretty swanky watch as a grooms gift. Boyfriend has been wearing said watch pretty much everyday since.

Today, as I lift his wrist closer to my face to see what time it is (because, I'm blind without my contacts), I notice that he still has the protective cover over the glass. You've got to be kidding me.

But the need for "protection" doesn't stop there, even his cellphone still had the plastic sticker on the screen. 

Cute right?

Needless to say I took them both off. 

He threatened to eat my iPhone case.

(**Edit: Imagine if I didn't take them off? Soon our couch would be wrapped in plastic and make squeaky noises whenever someone sat on it, not to mention, imagine the comfort of hawt plastic in the summer. Mhm - thought so. I had everybody's best interest in mind)

It was definitely not in my plan to see it Saturday night with the boyfriend. Long story short, we ended up getting the times mixed up and were standing in line faced with two choices - that, or Captain America...

I can't stop smiling! When I started this blog, all I had really wanted was a place to be myself. I feel like in 'real' life there are so many situations where you have to play games of pretend. Here on blogger, I've never had to do that...&& it's been amazing! The kind of support I get from you girls is irreplaceable. Shoot me for being cheesy - it's just one of those days :)

I wanted to say an extra special thank-you to Lauren from Lights In The Sky for giving me the "One Lovely Blog Award" - you totally made my day!

So to follow tradition of receiving this award, here are { 7 } things about me:

i.  I speak Russian fluently (at the level of MAYBE a 10 year old)

ii. My entire life I wanted to be a doctor & I did everything I could to put myself on the right track. I'm now studying Information Technology and Management in University - go figure! Just goes to show just how much we change as we grow up.

iii. I love Gossip Girl *blush* I have all the books, and I've seen all the seasons - a few times over. Guilty as charged.

iv. I'm madly in love with Salvador Dali - in my eyes the most talented painter EVER. "Metamorphosis of Narcissus" rocks my socks off. Google it!

v. I can't sing, but I still love to anyway.

vi. I'm scared to death of thunderstorms & closed spaces.

vii. I have three loves in my life - my incredible family, my loving boyfriend, and my super cute Dolly (see cuteness evidence below) 

** I might also have to add my new Canon DSLR to the list. 

At the end though, don't worry, I'm not THAT crazy...

Ever had one of those days where you just hoped and wished and crossed your fingers (and toes) that it would rain? Monday was one of those!

It has been so hot && humid here in Toronto, each day I step outside I feel like a fish out of water, gasping for air. Gross. It's so bad, that in skirts my thighs start to stick together (come-on now girls, back me up on this one...it's happened to everyone right?)

Almost makes me want to sing that Sesame Street song...

"it's lovely and dusty

but nothing gets rusty

i wish it would rain! 

it's so hot and sunny

my ice cream is runny

i wish it would rain"

 

So every summer Toronto has the summerlicious festival, where some of the top restaurants offer a fixed price menu, restaurants I wouldn't dream to go to otherwise. I love food, don't get me wrong, but spending over $100 a person on one meal is ridiculous :P I can go shopping with that money.

priorities...

So what's the best way to cool down on a hot day? Go for Indian food!

Every Thursday there is a Farmers Market at the Metro Square near my work. 

They have the most delicious looking fruit && veggies. 

We never pass up on the chance to stop by at lunch and drool (a little).

Last Thursday I picked up some cherries, because who can say no to freshly picked cherries for $4.50?

I thought so. 

They kicked supermarket cherries ARSE.

What do you know, I brought some back for the boyfriend (I know, best girlfriend ever or what?)

What else do you know...he got cherry juice all over his dress shirt. With half a day still left at work.

THANK GOD for the magic of tide to go...&& the bathroom sink.

Girls, I come to you with a suggestion. 

You can't take the boyfriend anywhere without some tide to go. 

Yet another lesson learned :)

// If you ever have a dream that you've given birth to a baby boy, don't freak out. According to my mama {a dream interpreter extraordinaire} it means that you'll get a present. Lo and behold I got a pretty hefty cheque from the government, with which I bought myself a present...that works right?

Hookie - 1 dictionary result found...

A day in which liberty is taken upon oneselfs to exclude themselves from work obligations while, most likely, pretending to be in a meeting. Usually this time is spent eating lunch && shopping with a friend (i.e. hookie for thrift-shopping). Commonly referred to as "playing hookie".

Starbucks {8:30pm}

As I go to pay for my drink, I realize that I left my wallet at home. Fairly normal occurrence, right? Wrong! I’m that person who double checks (then triple checks) everything before I leave the house. That night the list went something like:

Stove off? Check!

Lights off? Check!

Phone? Check

Wallet? On the counter!

… and then I left the house, just like that.

Starbucks dude man just laughed at me as I rummaged around, hoping that miraculously the wallet will grow tiny wings and fly from the counter, straight into my purse. When I finally admitted defeat, the guy gave me a free drink, and said something about not using the code again.

“I promise, I won’t!”

 As I pulled the receipt out the next day, to my surprise, if I logged onto their website and filled out the survey I’d get a free drink. The way I see it, two freebies are better than one. Who says we can’t break a teeny promise, just once in a while.

Side Note – Do you guys remember the time when the Starbucks cup used to be almost as motivating as the coffee? Check it – way back when, this was my fav one!

It’s always great to find that one person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

On the way to work this morning, I was the most obnoxious front-seat driver ever.
I watched boyfriends face as I cursed the drivers && the bikers && the pedestrians. He
kept smiling, even as I criticized girls wearing shirts as dresses (he’s always on the look
out for chocha-ness for me). The entire time he was laughing – with me that is, not at me.

I know neither of us are perfect babe. We will always have that in common.
Thank you for being O.K. with that.

Happy {one} year anniversary boyfriend…365 days is just the beginning of many more
amazing days with you. I will always be by your side - year by year - because, as my pal
Jack Johnson says, “it’s always better when we’re together”.

the snow queen

There was a book sale at the Canadian Broadcast Corporation building across the street from my office this week. I ended up picking up a copy of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. One day when I have little ones (in a land far far away) - I'll sit them on my lap and read them The Snow Queen, one of my favorite stories growing up. 

 

On a completely unrelated topic, the boyfriend began calling me Snow Queen. People, if I could show you my freezer at this moment, you might think I'm crazy - or jump for joy, depending on how you feel about freezies. The entire freezer is full of the jumbo sized crush flavored goodies. 

After strategically trying to place the box in the freezer (and suceeding) boyfriend and I sat back and waited paitently for them to harden up, so we could devour a few. Except, they didn't want to freeze.

This was when I had the awesome idea to take ALL of the freezies out and stick them in the freezer. 

Move over meat...Looks like until we finish them, we'll be having vegetarian meals.
